Greetings from Nancy Cohen Kram – Your Weight Loss 4 Life Coach
HOLDING ON TO EXTRA WEIGHT IS NOT YOUR FAULT
If you are like I was, you have a lot of shame about your struggle to shed weight and keep it off. But has anyone ever told you that it’s not your fault? As crazy as that sounds, it is the absolute truth!
A ways back, after I had tried (and failed) at many diets, only to crash and hit the wall, I sought medical advice from a respected doctor. The first thing he said was that my struggle was not my fault. Yeah right, I said to myself, rolling my eyes, not believing a word he said. Today I know he knew what he was talking about. Hormonally, our bodies do conspire against us. We just have to accept that fact, take a close, hard look at our life and food behaviors and start using the tools to gain the upper hand. This is about your health and longevity, looking better, moving more easily. Improving the quality of your life is your well-deserved reward.
Taking charge is both exhilarating and frightening. On one hand, you say, yes, I can do this, but the other hand is all the no’s – our fear and resistance to change. Change rocks our world of the old and familiar. Sure, we don’t balk if changes happen to be beneficial and they slide into place effortlessly, but having to initiate change, by thinking and acting in ways that we are unaccustomed, well, this is another story. White knuckling it, trying to navigate solo, is too frustrating and inevitably leads to the demise of all your good intentions. A good coach becomes part of your process, helping you set goals and find the best solution to reach them.
I didn’t become a successful "loser" until I got coached. Without someone on my side to help me focus on my goals, urging me to take contrary actions, I would still be stuck in my old habits, stubbornly hanging on to false beliefs while believing I knew it all. Because of my yo-yo dieting history, and the tools I’ve adapted to overcome it, I want to help others break the cycle that is holding them back from “weight loss for life.”
Remember, losing weight is a journey and not a race to the finish line.
